Mir, Nogueira, and Pre-Fight Injuries at UFC 92
In every sport athletes have to deal with injuries. Bumps and bruises that hinder athletic performance seem to always be present. MMA is no different. In the latest UFC fight card reports are starting to surface about the injuries that TUF coaches Frank Mir and Antonio Nogueira had prior to the fight. CompuStrike has released their statistics for UFC 92 on their site. Here’s an overview of the fights on the main card. Rashad Evans W 3 (KO) Forrest Griffin Inside The Numbers: It was all standup, and as expected, Griffin was the busier fighter. He landed 58 of 167 total strikes thru two rounds to 36 of 73 for Evans. 18 of those 58 landed strikes by Griffin were leg strikes. C.B. Dollaway Does it Again
Remember all of the controversy surrounding C.B. Dollaway’s tapout during his fight with Amir Sadollah? The former Arizona State wrestler denied that he tapped out while he was caught in an armbar, but the cameras and the referee said otherwise. Well, the Ultimate Fighter 8 runner-up has done it again against Mike Massenzio at UFC 92. This time he got away with it and pulled off a TKO win later in the fight. Antoni Hardonk: Fighter of the Night
There is no disputing that UFC 92 changed the landscape of two divisions, and set the stage for two title fights. It seemed almost locked, at this point, that the UFC lightheavyweight title fight will be between Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans and the UFC heavyweight unification bout will also be the second installment of Lesnar vs. Mir.
