Marcus Jones: The Good Soldier
Sometimes, the fighter is so good that it doesn’t matter if his coaching sucks. This is hardly new on the Ultimate Fighter. We saw it with Ed Herman on TUF 3. We saw it with Travis Lutter on TUF 4 (though he was basically coaching himself, given the strange premise of the season). The Slide Continues: Team Rampage Falls to 0-7
This season of The Ultimate Fighter continues to make history with Team Rampage falling to 0-7 in the opening round. This will make Rampage the first team ever to be in the position to get shut out going into the final match of the first round, and they will (at least) tie for the worst opening round record in the history of the show. TUF 10: Episode 6 Recap and Analysis
So, last night was a big win for Darrill “Titties” Schoonover (10-0 MMA), who submitted Zak Jensen (7-3 MMA) with a triangle choke after laying a pretty solid beating down standing up. Well, it’s no secret that Team Rampage is having the worst season in the history of the Ultimate Fighter franchise. It’s worth making a note, now that the Ultimate Fighter is halfway through the first round, that this season has featured the worst performance by any coach in the history of the franchise. It’s been rumored for a while, but since the news is finally out, it’s worth mentioning that Jon Jones (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will be featuring TUF 3 veteran Matt Hamill (6-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC). This really doesn’t surprise me, and shouldn’t surprise anyone. The program was incredibly well marketed, and that shows in the numbers. The reports appearing this morning assert that the number of household viewers was 5.7 million, with a total of 6.1 million tuning in at some point during the show, which makes it the highest rated program that the UFC has ever broadcast on Spike TV.
