Strikeforce Challengers Series: Highlight Photos
So, my angle (as usual) wasn’t the best for the event, but it was an amazing show, so I’m pretty happy with it. The fight of the night, for me was Shane del Rosario (9-0 MMA) vs. Brandon Cash (5-1 MMA), though I imagine I’ll get into why, exactly, tomorrow (after posting the video to the fights). Though the Strikeforce: Challengers Series event will certainly be overshadowed by the first appearance of Fedor Emelianenko on CBS, as he takes on undefeated top ten heavyweight Brett Rogers, MMA Opinion will be offering live coverage of the event, so it is worth posting that there have been some additions to the card. After his shocking first loss via disqualification, Billy Evangelista (9-1 MMA) will return to the cage against UFC veteran and well respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Jorge Gurgel (13-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) at Strikeforce Challengers Series in his hometown of Fresno, California. It wasn’t a secret that, if the up-and-coming Kaufman could defeat Shayna Baszler (9-6 MMA), she’d be looking at moving in on the top tier of women’s MMA. A Lesson for Tito Jones
In defeat, Tito Jones learned a hard lesson about letting the fight go to the judges. During the Jones fight, I had picked Bao Quach to win while the security guard sitting next to the press section had picked Tito, so we went back and forth discussing the fight (there was a lot of time to talk, given that the first two rounds were incredibly boring).
