NYT Writes About Something Old, Again
The New York Times publishes articles on MMA periodically, and while sometimes they’re completely off the mark, sometimes they actually address something interesting in the sport, which is why when a piece on Christian organizations teaching MMA ended up in my mailbox, I was curious. Of course, the “warrior-pastor” syndrome is not something that’s new to MMA. Kimo Leopoldo’s famous ring entrance at UFC 3, with a cross on his back and a huge tattoo of the word “Jesus” across his stomach… (Full Story)

Why Matt Hughes will win
Matt Hughes… He has lost three of his last four. He beat Chris Lytle, but not in old school fashion. He is no longer bigger, stronger, and faster than everyone else. Matt Hughes: The Miletich Factor
There’s a part of me that initially wrote Matt Hughes off as an old guy. Curtis, of course, will resent that, given that he thinks Matt Hughes is still legitimate, and there are a lot of people who do. Still, when a fighter has dropped three of his last four fights, getting finished in all of his defeats and failing to finish Chris Lytle (though Lytle’s a pretty respectable guy, he’s someone Hughes really should have destroyed) it’s important to ask, “why?” Why, all of a sudden, is… (Full Story)
Serra vs. Hughes: Is it Still Relevant?
With UFC 98 only a few weeks away, there’s an important question I have to ask myself about the co-main event bout between two former UFC welterweight champions named Matt. Why should I care? It won’t be hard for my brother, a long time Matt Hughes fan, to find a reason to sit on the edge of his seat. It won’t be hard for the New Yorkers who back Matt Serra to hit the sports bar and watch the hometown hero prepare for war against an inevitable UFC hall-of-famer. But as someone who… (Full Story)
