Defining the Greatness of MMA (An Attempt)

Every once in a while, when I get in a conversation about the sport, I get ballsy, and decide I’m going to throw a big claim out there: MMA is the world’s greatest sport…. (Full Story)

Preliminary Thoughts on Emelianenko vs. Rogers

There has been a lot of discussion (though that is hardly different from any other time) concerning the top ranking of Fedor Emelianenko (30-1-0-1 MMA, #1 IWMMAR). There are those who think that since his last two opponent have suffered brutal losses in the wake of losing to Fedor, they were less than legitimate. This, in my opinion, is an absurd way to attempt to judge fighters, as plenty of fighters have a tendency to go on skids after a vicious loss, which is certainly most true of Andrei… (Full Story)

Where Does Brett Rogers Go From Here?

Brett Rogers (10-0 MMA, #9 IWMMAR) is one of the rising stars in the heavyweight division. With ten wins and ten finishes, all by strikes, The Grimm has put himself in a position to move up the ladder in a division that has a great deal of talent on the open market. His win over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski (15-7 MMA, 10-4 UFC, #10 IWMMAR), one of the most visible and most popular heavyweights in the western world, legitimized Rogers in the minds of many… (Full Story)

Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Rogers

It hardly seems like another matchup is possible, and that the Strikeforce Heavyweight Title will be a battle between two monsterous, explosive strikes. Whether defending champion Alistair Overeem (29-11-0-1 MMA, #7 IWMMAR ) will have fully recovered from his hand injury and returned to fighting fitness by August 15th, but if he has, it certainly seems possible that he could fight top contender Brett “The Grim” Rogers (10-0 MMA, #9 IWMMAR ) . After Rogers knocked out former top five… (Full Story)

Winning in Defeat: Rogers vs. Arlovski

I have a hard time seeing how Brett Rogers is going to get his hand raised at the end of his upcoming bout with Andrei Arlovski. Andrei is a better striker, it’s that simple. Rogers really doesn’t have that extensive an arsenal of strikes. Rogers is all about throwing hands and working the dirty boxing, and Arlovski is a solid boxer who knows how to control the distance and move his head. Of course, Rogers is bigger than Andrei, but not much, and I don’t think he’s going to have the edge in… (Full Story)

Andrei Arlovski to fight Brett Rogers in June

The Fight Network is reporting that undefeated Brett Rogers will battle Fedor Emelianenko’s latest victim, Andrei Arlovski, in the upcoming Strikeforce event to be held in early June. Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will step in for injured Strikeforce heavyweight titleholder Alistair Overeem against Team Bison member Brett “The Grim” Rogers at “Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields” on June 6. While I think Rogers should not be taken lightly, Arlovksi seemed to be winning his bout… (Full Story)
