Though the Strikeforce: Challengers Series event will certainly be overshadowed by the first appearance of Fedor Emelianenko on CBS, as he takes on undefeated top ten heavyweight Brett Rogers, MMA Opinion will be offering live coverage of the event, so it is worth posting that there have been some additions to the card. After his shocking first loss via disqualification, Billy Evangelista (9-1 MMA) will return to the cage against UFC veteran and well respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Jorge Gurgel (13-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) at Strikeforce Challengers Series in his hometown of Fresno, California. Billy’s Long Week
Some weeks just suck, but I’m sure Billy Evangelista is going to happy to put this one behind him and look forward to a week off, or perhaps of training. Evangelista recieved his first career loss courtesy of Herb Dean more than his opponent Mike Aina. Dean broke up the action after Evangelista landed a knee that appeared to everyone (myself included) to land on the head of Aina, and Aina went down for the count. Strikeforce issued a press release today confirming three main card fights for the upcoming ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers Series, to be held at the Savemart Center in Fresno, CA. The event is set to be headlined by undefeated lightweight Billy Evangelista (9-0) vs. “Iron” Mike Aina (11-6-1). Aina is a training partner of B.J.
