Aaron Simpson’s New Website

I normally don’t write about fighter websites, as they are hardly newsworthy, but I have to make an exception for this one. Aaron “A-Train” Simpson (6-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is probably UFC’s most amicable fighter in addition to being one of the hardest working. A graduate of ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, Aaron Simpson actually knows how to write and his blog posts and updates are always thought-provoking. The site also features video blogs, including one of Simpson (with his… (Full Story)

Aaron Simpson: Riding the A-Train Through The Ranks

I first spoke with Aaron “A Train” Simpson (6-0) at the end of May, after noticing his world class wrestling background, first-round knockouts and undefeated MMA record. My interest was further piqued when Simpson’s fight with Ed “Short Fuse” Herman (15-8) was announced in mid-July. Simpson took the bout on fairly short notice, with far less experience and betting odds stacked against him. That, however, didn’t phase him at all. “I felt really good,” Simpson said. “I don’t really get the… (Full Story)

UFC 102 Results

For those who don’t want spoilers, the results are below the fold and will only be pulled above in the morning. Should be a great night of fights. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-5-1-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC, #4 IWMMAR) defeated Randy Couture (16-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC, #5 IWMMAR) by Unanimous Decision. Thiago Silva (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) defeated Keith Jardine (14-6-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC, #9 IWMMAR) by KO @ 1:35 of Round 1. Jake Rosholt (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) defeats Chris Leben (18-7 MMA, 8-5 UFC) by Submission… (Full Story)

Aaron Simpson vs. Ed Herman

Aaron “A-Train” Simpson (pictured left) has revealed his opponent for UFC Fight Night 19, and it appears that he will be facing none other than Ed “Short Fuse” Herman. (Herman’s camp, Team Quest Portland, did not respond to repeated requests for comment). I’m not sure what happens when you mix an A-Train with a short fuse, but I’m guessing there’s gonna an explosion in the Octagon on September 16th. Although Aaron Simpson is a world class wrestler, he has won all five of his MMA bouts… (Full Story)

Aaron Simpson: From Wrestling to MMA

Aaron “A Train” Simpson is a world-class wrestler. Before fighting MMA, he placed in the US Olympic Trials for wrestling in 2000 and 2004. Simpson spent 9 years serving as an Assistant Wrestling Coach at ASU, coaching future MMA stars Ryan Bader, Cain Velasquez and CB Dolloway. Simpson has a phenomenal skill set, with all five of his wins coming by way of knockout. Like many of his training partners at Arizona Combat Sports, Simpson is currently undefeated in MMA. You’ve been doing some… (Full Story)
