Everyone Wants a Piece; Who Deserves One?

It’s immediately obvious that the two loudest mouths calling out UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar (4-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC, #2 IWMMAR) consist of more hype than substance. James Toney (0-0 MMA, 72-6-3-2 Boxing) and Mariusz Pudzianowski (1-0 MMA) aren’t in a position to talk about a shot at Brock, give that neither has even fought in the UFC yet. Of course, it’s traditional for newcomers getting even the littlest bit of hype should call out someone with a big name, and no one is bigger right now… (Full Story)

Big Win for MMA in New York

It’s not in the form of something concrete in the legislature just yet, but in a recent editorial, former chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission, Randy Gordon, has come out in favor of legalizing MMA in the state of New York. While it’s clear that Gordon has been slow to speak up (as none of the changes in the sport are particularly recent, but have occurred over the course of the last few years), it’s a good time for him to do so. There are a lot of ongoing efforts in the state… (Full Story)

The ‘experts’ discuss Machida vs. Rua

UFC 104 gave us one of the most exciting back and forth main events that we have seen in a long time. It also gave many fans a reason to jump online to discuss why they believe Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua was robbed by the judges after his fight with light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. But now the ‘experts’ are coming back with their reasoning on why Machida ‘clearly’ won the fight. Kevin Iole offers his opinion on the controversial decision to allow Lyoto Machida to retain his light… (Full Story)
