Food Fight: Homemade Chocolate

After grossing everybody out with tales of chicken feet last week (and gettings a fair amount of messages from people who, say, grilled it in the Phillipines or ate it in aspics in Israel or wanted to point me to the wikipedia page), I’ve decided to try to redeem myself to the naysayers by sweetening the pot. I know very few people who aren’t in love with chocolate, and luckily if you get a bar with a high percentage of cocoa (85% or more), it’s actually somewhat healthy… especially when… (Full Story)

Food Fight: Chicken Feet

In addition to my illustrious MMA writing career, I double up as a foodie. When Brandt recommended I start a column on nutrition, I thought it’d be an excellent way to merge these two seemingly divergent interests, and perhaps share some information on something I am quite passionate about. I mean, I do my own canning and pickling; I make teas out of wildcrafted herbs. I make my own whey and kraut, my own salad dressing and chocolate. I spend a lot of time sourcing my food, making sure my… (Full Story)

Greenberg vs. Barrera at Treasure Island: Fight Recap

Armed with our notebook, camera and a whole lot of love, Todd Butkowski and I headed out to Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Red Wing, MN on Valentine’s Day weekend to cover a night of fights. After uncharacteristically loading up on carbs at the Tradewinds Buffet, we took our seats and waited for the night of fights to begin. Live tweets, as always, were posted from the fights–I’m @treelizard). Gabe  Greenberg vs. Chris Barrera The main event was a 145-lb. bout between Red… (Full Story)
