4/19 Warrior Challenge Live Results

I’m live at the building in York, PA for the event. Brandt DeLorenzo is shooting photography from the balcony. I’ve made a makeshift press section up there as well so hopefully we can do round-by-round coverage if the Internet connection holds. A very full ballroom for this debut MMA card, probably 500 or more. Looks like all but two of the fights will be amateur contests and fought with 3 two minute rounds. I’ll post the line up below and see you at 2pm for the show. Joshua Aarons Vs. Brent… (Full Story)

Live Ring of Combat 22 Blog

We are live from the Trop in Atlantic City. Looks like the fights will begin sometime around 9pm. Check back throughout the night. 2 four minute rounds in Heavyweight Division Jim Boudourakis vs Pat Collins Jim Bou. Is from Redboy BJJ and Collins is out of AMA fight club. This was a joke. Boudourakis has little defense or form. Collins knocked hi m out in 31 seconds! Not much of a fight, but the crowd loved Collins. Bantamweight – 2 four Minute Rounds Sean Santella vs Nice… (Full Story)

Ring Of Combat 21 Results and Commentary

Ring of Combat 21 – For cageside pictures, go to MMAPrints.com Late to the building, we missed the two swing bouts. Sorry. Andrew Riddles vs Mike Stewart (Middleweight) Riddles is a Ricardo Almeida fighter. Stewart is out of team Jungle Gym. Round 1 was mostly Stewert using his superior size to get Riddle to the ground. He achieved this twice, but was largely nullified by Riddle. 10-9 Stewart. Round 2 over before it could really get started. Riddle exploded at the opening moments, gained… (Full Story)

The Average Bill Blog: EliteXC on CBS

Here’s the deal. I’m tired of Internet MMA hardcore micromanaging. I’m tired of people not understanding business going hand-and-hand with the fights and promotion of them. I’m always looking for a way to make the points missed by those inside the bubble. Since I live in the bubble at times too, I got me an average Joe. Well, his name is Bill. So this is the Johnny P and Average Bill blog for Elite XC on CBS. Bill is exactly the fan that Elite XC and UFC are trying to bring in. He is… (Full Story)

MMA + Kids = ?

Sunday Morning at 9:30 EST could be just as important as the night before. Another story by ESPN tests the perceptions and notions about MMA in our society. How soon is to soon to start? Take a… (Full Story)

My Political (MMA) Cartoon Script

(The basement of a suburban home of a teenage male. He wears an Affliction T-shirt. There are imported SHOOTO posters on the wall. A Fedor bobble-head doll on desk next to the family computer. The boy types on the screen at a random Mixed Martial Arts message board.) PRIDEForever91: Afflictions PPV card rulz. Dana White is so dum (writer’s error, not this writer, of course). Barnett and Fedor will the greatest. This is PRIDE Reborn. But the real PRIDE. It will do a million PPV buys and beat… (Full Story)

The Dear Lorenzo Letter

Dear Lorenzo, How’s it going? Must be busy with the new job and all. I was sorry to hear about you having to quit your other job. Now your brother is gonna make all that money! I hope you saved a few of those $110 million a year you were making. Bad economy and all. Plus you probably have your brother giving you crap all the time. I feel for you. (MMAOpinion Czar) Brandt Delorenzo has two boys, and those brothers are constantly taking each other’s stuff too. I recently saw Casino and… (Full Story)

Help, Time Warp (Or “Kimbo Can’t Come Over to Play”)

I don’t usually break news in my blogs, but this story just couldn’t wait. Mixed Martial Arts is about to go Mainstream! I heard it on Dan Patrick’s radio show. Then later, I heard Scott Van Pelt, of ESPN TV and Radio, talking about it. It’s odd though. They kept calling it Ultimate Fighting, which confused me – the consumer – since I just watched the UFC last week. Then once they told me about Elite XC, sort of, I had another question. Didn’t MMA already go mainstream? See, I remember it… (Full Story)

The Forest from the Trees

Rampage vs. Griffin is going to draw a lot of buys on pay-per-view. The internet fan base of mixed martial arts that reads blogs and news sites on a daily basis is going to hate the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter show no matter what. These aren’t concrete facts, but they are most likely to be true if you read this article a year from now. I probably wouldn’t because it will fall under what most MMA posts end up being – dull highly opinionated talking points over matters that only a small… (Full Story)

Calm Voice Wanted

My father’s generation had Walter Cronkite, respectable and stoic, to talk them through the death of John F. Kennedy on live TV. In those days people respected the news media. Cronkite was a calming voice on a chaotic day. My generation had a tragedy of its own on September 11, 2001. It played out in a much more graphic sense, live on TV as planes hit and then buildings fell. I had Peter Jennings, as did so many other Americans, as my touching voice to both encapsulate history and calm any… (Full Story)
