Antwain Britt to fight Scott Lighty at Strikeforce Evolution!

brittnewOur brother site at www.curtisandkyle.com has broke the news that Antwain Britt will take on Scott Lighty.  The original post can be found here.

This is going to be a great fight!  Their write up is after the jump!

Virginia MMA superstar Antwain Britt has once again allowed us to break news about his fighting career.  Antwain will be making his Strikeforce debut on December 19th.  The Juggernaut will be taking on kick boxer Scott Lighty.  The event will air live on Showtime and feature Cung Le vs. Scott Smith and Jacare Souza vs. Matt Lindland, but Britt vs. Lighty very well could steal the show.

Antwain Britt is known for being a nasty stand up fighter.  He has power in both hands and is starting to create a lengthy list of formidable opponents that he has knocked out.  While this will be his Strikeforce debut, he is no stranger to fighting in big spots.  Antwain busted onto the scene through the UFC’s TUF reality show but suffered a heart breaking injury in his fight to get into the house.

Since the show, Britt has defeated the likes of Carmelo Marrero and Antonio Mendes (in 8 seconds).

Scott Lighty is a name you may not have heard about.  He is just one of many that have made the conversion from kickboxing to MMA.  Although he is fairly new to the sport of MMA, has has fought in more than 70 kickboxing fights.  He made his MMA debut in 2008 and has been on a tear.  He is currently undefeated only going to decision once.

Antwain is without a doubt heads and shoulders better than everyone Lighty has ever faced.

This is an incredible match up of styles.  This is the type of fight that the fans in San Jose will love.  Britt and Lighty will both look to stand and push the pace, creating the potential for an extremely exciting fight!

The last time Britt fought was September.  Even though he hasn’t fought in over a month he has been a very busy man.  Him and his crew in Virginia have put together one of the top MMA gyms around.  It has been referred to as “super awesome”.  Their website is www.mmasuffolk.com .  At their site you can checkout videos from their gym, learn about the staff, and find out what their gym could do for you.  Antwain teaches at the school, so if you want real training from a true professional then this is the place to be.

Feel free to offer words of encouragement and thoughts to Antwain.  He cruises the website, reads the comments, and is always very thankful!

We will have more from Antwain as he prepares for this event in the future!

Mr. Britt used to frequent my grocery store in Virginia Beach. At the time I did not know who he was, or that he was actually involved in MMA. However, he was always wearing TapOut gear and stuff like that. I used to talk to him about whatever UFC was coming up and who we thought was going to win. The last time I saw him was right before the TUF 8 premiere. I can’t tell you how proud I was that he was from Virginia Beach. I have been following his career on here ever since. GO ANTWAIN, all of VB and 757 is behind you!!!!

let’s not forget where the “Juggernaut” is STILL getting all of his training from: The Hybrid Training Center! Suffolk MMA maybe his school (whih is a Team Hybrid Affiliate by the way) but WE are the ones who get him ready for the big show.
Congrats Juggernaut! Time to do work. See you in practice.

    Buck,
Good stuff. People aren’t reminded enough that fighters don’t have to train at ATT and Extreme Couture to be successful.
