Just two weeks after competing in his second World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) fight, bantamweight Will Ribeiro has been involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Brazil.
TATAME.com received a call from his coach Luiz Alves, telling about the bad motorcycle accident suffered in Rio de Janeiro, earlier today. “Things are really bad… The accident happened around 1a.m.. He were riding a bike without a helmet and, when tried to brake, skided and crashed”, told Luiz Alves, who also told the athlete is in coma at Andaraí’s Hospital. Stay tuned on TATAME.com for more news about the accident.
Ribeiro was submitted by Brian Bowles at WEC 37 in Las Vegas two weeks ago. He’s a bantamweight prospect whose recent war with Bowles helped his opponent earn a title shot with current champion Miguel Torres.
Frank Mir’s MMA career was severely disrailed after a serious motorcycle accident in which he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. Mir broke his femur and tore ligaments in his knee, and the UFC was forced to create an interim heavyweight in Mir’s absence.
Much to the dismay of his coaches, current UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva also rides a motorcycle on the streets of Curitiba, Brazil.
