2 four minute rounds in Heavyweight Division

Jim Boudourakis vs Pat Collins

Jim Bou. Is from Redboy BJJ and Collins is out of AMA fight club. This was a joke. Boudourakis has little defense or form. Collins knocked hi m out in 31 seconds! Not much of a fight, but the crowd loved Collins.

Bantamweight – 2 four Minute Rounds

Sean Santella vs Nice Pace

Round 1: Pace is out of Tiger Schulmans and Santella is fighting for AMA Fight Club. Pace stuffed takedown attempts early and slammed Santella down a minute in. He took Santella’s back and worked for a submission. Santella ate a bunch of punches to the side of the head. Pace couldn’t finish him, but I had him winning the round Pace 10-9.

Round 2: Pace grabbed a full mount after they circled a bit. He worked for an arm submission but Santella got out. Time was called and then we restarted. Santella ended up on top on the ground. Pace reversed into another full mount. Pace took his back but couldn’t finish him. I’d give the round to Pace for cage control and the two mounts/strikes. 10-9 Pace. 20-18 for me.

Judges agree unanimously for a 20-18 Pace decision win.

Main Card

Middleweight – 3 Four Minute Rounds

Chris Presta vs Mike Stewart

Prestsa is out of Bellmore Kickboxing. Stewart is out of Jungle Gym.

Round 1: Clinch early with Stewart landing on top. Stewart got full mount and pounded Presta with punches. Looked like he gassed a bit from punching so much, but Presta ended up tapping from a Stewart side choke.

Winner at 3:34 of the first round via arm triangle choke, Mike Stewart.

Lightweight

John Salgado vs Jay Isip

Salgado is from Ross Zocchi. Isip has all the crowd support, hailing from Pellegrino MMA.

Round 1: Isip controlled once it went to the ground. He’s muscling Salgado around a bit. Salgado stood up and ended up taking Isip down. Salgado took his back and ended it with a rear naked choke. Couldn’t tell to much about them from that fight, other than Salgado is resilient.

3:24 of the First Round via Rear Naked choke submission, John Salgado.

-Sean Foreman was not cleared to fight by the NJAC, so his opponent Greg Soto was introduced to the crowd.

Lightweights

Dom Stanco vs Biff Walizer

Stanco is fighting out of Bellmore Kickboxing. Walizer is out of Lionheart MMA (Penn St., for those wondering)

Round 1: scramble for control as the go up and down, clinch, and then end up with Stanco on top. Walizer using the rubber guard pretty effectively. Stanco landed a few heavy shots before Walizer scrambled. Walizer took his back and control the last minute and a half. Tough round, but I’d say 10-9 Stanco.

Round 2: Dom caught Walizer with several hard punches when they were scrambling to their feet. KO early in the second round.

The winner at 40 seconds of the second round, Dom Stanco.

Heavyweights

Paul White vs Joe Abouata

White is out of the Rhino Fight Team. Abouata fights for Alex Wilkie’s MMA.

Round 1: Aboutata comes in looking a bit soft, while White is pretty cut. No matter, as in the scramble Abouata lands on top in control. White looked to be the better boxer for the time they were standing. White tried to work a Guilletine from the bottom. Aboutata got mount and rained down punches. White gave up his back and was choked out 30 seconds later.

Your winner at 3:06 of the First round via rear naked choke, Joe Abouata.

Featherweights

Jason McLean vs Jimmie Rivera

McLean is fighting out of Advanced Martial Arts. Rivera out of Tiger Schulmann MMA.

Round 1: Rivera landed some shots early. They traded several low kicks and flurries, neither having a clear advantage. Rivera kicked low twice but points were not deducted. Very close round where Rivera was more aggressive, so he might squeak out at 10-9 round. Maybe.

Round 2: McLean ate a high kick and slammed Rivera down to the mat. He got up and McLean chased him around a bit. McLean very aggressive this round. He got another take down and landed a few shots. Boxing-wise McLean is landing cleaner shots. McLean took him down just as the bell rang. 10-9 McLean.

Round 3: The circle and throw at air for the first minute. Rivera gets a tough take down, but McLean got back up and nailed him with shots. McLean’s striking starting to pick up. He’s kneeing in the clinch too. Mclean gets a takedown of Rivera late. I’ve given him the third round 10-9. Final for me was 29-28 McLean.

Judges decision: Split decision. Jason McLean wins. Scores were 30-28 McLean, 29-28 Rivera, and 29-28 McLean.

Welterweight

Troy Maxwell vs Igor Gracie

Maxwell is fighting out of Extreme Performance MMA. Gracie is of course from Team Renzo Gracie.

Round 1: Igor got full mount early, then transitioned to Maxwell’s back. Gracie controlled there for much of the first round fighting for a rear naked choke. Gracie did land alot amount of strikes from the back. That was pretty much it until Gracie went for an arm bar late. He didn’t have it, but came close. 10-9 Gracie.

Round 2: They struggle against the cage and Gracie is in control. All Gracie going for submissions of all types. To many to count. Maxwell sneaks out later and lands a few strikes on the ground. Not many. Pretty much a Gracie round through and through. 10-9 Gracie

Round 3: Gracie works for and gets a takedown. He got side control for a moment. More Gracie trying submissions like the guillotine choke. Maxwell is on top but he’s not doing much with the position. As I type that he starts landing strikes and takes Gracie’s back. Gracie scrambles out. Maxwell in his guard. Gracie is very tired. I might give this round to Maxwell, but that might be charitable. Lucky for me it’s a judge’s decision. 29-28 Gracie.

29-28,29-28, 30-26 for the winner by unanimous decision, Igor Gracie.

Light Heavyweight

John Doyle vs Costa Phillipou

Phillipou fights out of Team Serra Longo. Doyle is fighting for Blackman MMA.

Round 1: Doyle gains top position/side control early off a clinch struggle. Not too much on the ground, so there stood up. Phillipou sort of takes down Doyle at the end, though it was more of a falling hip toss. I’d say in a very close round, Doyle controlled from the top. 10-9 Doyle.

Round 2: Very little happening as they went to the ground early. Doyle is on top, but not much damage is being done. They are struggling out there for position, but it’s a stalemate. Phillipou made a comeback after they were stood up late, and may have stolen the round. 10-9 Phillipou.

Round 3: Doyle has him against the cage going for a takedown, but Phillipou stops the take down. Doyle has gassed out, but he’s still going for takedowns. Phillipou unloading some leather on him on the ground. He looks dead tired too. Looks like Phillipou is landing shots from the top. He gets full mount and wins by strikes.

The winner at 3:05 of the third round due to strikes, Costa Phillipou.

Dave Sachs vs Tim Troxell

Sachs is from Pittsburgh Fight Club. Troxell is from AMA Fight Club.

Round 1: All Dave Sachs’ round. He took Troxell down. He stopped him from getting up a few times. He landed many strikes. He had full mount and took Troxell’s back. Totally dominated round. 10-8 Sachs.

Round 2: Sachs ends up controlling early, though not as dominant as the first round. He lands some punches and gains side control. He takes Troxell’s back. This is very much like the round before it. He gets some sort of neck crank submission after working off Troxell’s back for a while. Tap out win for Sachs.

Winner at 4:40 via choke tap out, Dave Sachs.

Lightweight

Cory Mahon vs Chris Liguori

Mahon is fighting out of FC BJJ. Liguori is a product of Ricardo Almeida.

Round 1: These guys came out fast and furious. Liguori slipped and ended up on the bottom in a tough scramble. He recovered enough to go for an arm submission. Liguori stands up and gets a takedown of his own. Mahon reverses a minute later and takes side control. Liguori with a great gogoplota attempt. Mahon with good strikes at the end of the round. To close to call.

Round 2: Liguori lands shots early standing, then goes for a triangle on the ground. He transitions to top position. He’s landing strikes there too. A lot of them. Mahon switches to top after fighting so hard for it, only to get tapped from there.

Winner at 3:41 of the second round via arm bar, Chris Liguori.

Middleweight

Paul Bradley vs Dante Rivera

Bradley hails from the Lionheart MMA camp. Rivera from Ricardo Almeida.

Round 1: Flash KO about 30 seconds in. Rivera came in and was the aggressor. He got caught and was eating shots when ref Lavigne stepped in and stopped it. Rivera popped up right away to protest. It was a tough call.

Paul Bradley wins via knock out
