Fedor Suffers Rare Loss
By Curtis Clontz on Nov 18, 2008
The fighter that many think is the pound for pound best fighter in the world, and possibly best of all time stepped onto rare ground this past weekend. When it was time to receive medals for the latest Sambo competition, Fedor was not handed the gold medal. He was a recipient of the bronze medal. Fedor lost 8-5 to Blagoi Ivanov. Fedor had previously beaten Ivanov and was expected to again run through him and the rest of the competition at this tournament.
This isn’t as big a deal as many will make of it. Although the guy who seems unbeatable took a loss, it was just that… A loss. It wasn’t MMA, and it wasn’t on PPV. Sambo is a close relative to MMA but it is different. People are going to say that Fedor is getting old, maybe has lost a step, and is “human”. The problem is we don’t know all of the intangibles. He could have been sick, had other health problems, or all in all just had an off day.
Fedor is set to fight Andrei Arlovski at the next Affliction card. The Pitbull will be trying to show the world that the recent rumors about Fedor is correct and that he is beatable, while Fedor looks to prove he is still the greatest in the world.

Fedor is a beast. No big deal really. Arlovski will be a challenge for him as he has done nothing but improve his fight game. This is a tough one to call…but…in MMA…I would not be against Fedor.
