More Rampage (More Trouble with Police)
By Curtis Clontz on Jul 17, 2008
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson had another run in with authorities last night, TMZ.com states
“Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been picked up by police again. Sources say last night an Irvine police car was waved down by people near the place Rampage was staying who said he was acting weird. This, of course, following the insane chase the day before in which the UFC fighter hit several cars in his monster truck and was arrested at gunpoint. We’re told Irvine cops saw Rampage, deemed him a danger to himself and others, and took him to a hospital for observation. Cops won’t officially confirm if it’s a psychiatric hold.”
Rumors are flying around the internet about what is going on. Nothing has been confirmed especially drug or alcohol use. The initial police report from his driving incident actually said neither was a factor. The obvious is that Rampage has some inner demons he needs to work out. Lt. Rick Handfield of the Irvin Police Department told MMAWeekly.com
“We did go out to the residence where he was staying at 4:31 p.m. PT (on Wednesday in the city of Irvine, Calif.). We were asked to assist with him and make sure that he was safe and not a danger to himself or others. He was exhibiting some unusual behavior that his friends that were there felt concerned…. At the conclusion of our contact, we did detain him and take him to be seen by mental health professionals. We left him with the mental health professionals.”
At this point fighting in the UFC should be the last on his mind. He needs to worry about fighting for his freedom and staying out of prison. The UFC has not made an official announcement regarding either issue as of yet.
Brandt posted an article talking about Rampages’ troubles with pictures of his arrent. I hope this blows over and he will be able to return to the cage soon.
