Shoe Deal?

How do you know when you have made it in the highly competitive world of sports? For some athletes it is when they sign that first shoe deal. For others, it is when Gatorade calls and wants you to bleed Lemon Lime in a commercial, and the top is when Nike calls and says they want you in the middle of a Nike Sparq “my better tastes like French toast” commercial!

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson joins the ranks such as Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and many other athletes that have done many of the above feats. Rampage now has his own shoes.

If you are a huge Rampage fan or an avid MMA collector check out his shoes here. Don’t get it twisted. These are not PF Flyers that will make you run faster and jump higher. One version has chains, while the other one has the look of a cage. Neither one of these shoes are the next Air Force Ones or Chuck Taylors, but they do show the ever climbing popularity of MMA.

The Rampage Serve shoes will run you about $68.00. They do not come with your very own Rampage chain, or devastating right hand, but if you are Quinton’s number one fan these are a must have.

you realize Caol Uno has his own entire fashion line complete with multiple makes of shoes, right?

I do, but this was about Rampage and his current status compared to other athletes in America. Now that he is in Nike commercials, on television, and has his own shoes, he can be compared more of a star than simply just a MMA fighter.

  3. sprewell says:

Not really. There are very few actual star athletes in the entire world.

Dirk Nowitzki, for example, was the NBA MVP last year and is a Nike sponsored player but he has no commercial hype whatsoever. The same can go for guys like Tim Duncan. To be an actual star athlete you have to have international appeal, like David Beckham. Rampage has very limited appeal even in his own country (no one pays attention to him like a star athlete, whereas arguments over a Beckham jersey make ESPN), much less worldwide. Rampage can’t even get on a late night talk show couch. He’s got a long, long, long way to go.

If Tim Duncan can’t get play on a national, commercial stage, Rampage Jackson certainly ain’t getting it.

No MMA fighter can compare to the likes of David Beckham. Not many athletes in the world not named Tiger can.

Dirk will have plenty of time to work on those promotion deals while he is at home for the summer. He is marketable, but he will never be elite (in that field) unless he becomes a better all around player (a 7 footer has to play down low too) or unless he can win a title but you need a coach to do that.

Tim Duncan could have more endorsements if he wanted. Don’t forget he enjoys his time in the Virgin Islands. In my opinion anyone with shoes that cost $100.00 a pop is getting plenty of commercial
    hypehttp://www.pickyourshoes.com/collectible/nike_total_foamposite_wht_blk.htm

I won’t try to say Rampage is a marketed giant. His shoe deal isn’t with Nike. He does not have credit card, car, or other big time money makers coming his way. He may not even have his every own Fathead, but he is a star.

Shoe deals are not as easy come by as in the 90,s basically because these shoe companies were exploding at the time. Jacksons deal would be relatively small based on the fact that he remain champ No company will keep someone who winds up on their back Otomix Martial Arts had a few deals with fighters and bodybuilders because they make specialized shoes for these sports. Otomix has been manufacturing an MMA shoes since 1991 and now has a few in their line. They just release the new Stingray Escape an exclusively for MMA.
